    Updated: 2018-03-27 16:04

    Time: 10:00 am - 11:00 am, April 11

Place: CrossMedia Theatre, Olympia London, Hammersmith Road, Kensington, London, United Kingdom

Monetising IP for entertainment is already hugely successful for China Literature and Whatpad. What are the opportunities and challenges for publishers around the world in adopting the same model? At London Book Fair, Alicia Liu (Singing Grass) and Sophie Rochester (The Literary Platform) will be in conversation with China Literature and Wattpad, two of the giants in online literature, to get to the heart of whether readers in the East and the West respond in similar or different ways when it comes to the consumption of IP entertainment.

The session is in partnership with Shanghai Literary Week.

    About the companies

China Literature, the biggest online publishing business and IP powerhouse in China, backed by technology and entertainment giant Tencent was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in November 2017. The initial US$1billion public offer was oversubscribed 625 times, making it the hottest public offer in decades.

Wattpad, which hosts a platform with more than 400 million user-generated stories, raised 51 million in January 2018 from investors including Tencent, with an aim to expand IP entertainment projects - adapting Wattpad stories for TV, film, digital media and publishing.
